This was exactly the case with the project we would like to report on. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">Problem: Functionality given, production effort expandable<\/h2>\n\n<p>Our customer approached us with a request to manufacture an aluminum clamping system with complex kinematics. The goal was clear &#8211; to fix components securely and precisely. However, even during the initial analysis, it became clear that although the solution met the functional requirements, it was far from optimal in terms of manufacturing effort, material usage and costs.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">Re-engineering with a focus on the essentials<\/h2>\n\n<p>Instead of simply implementing the original concept, we took a step back and looked at the actual function of the system.<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What movement is needed?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where does complexity arise that does not deliver added value?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How can the assembly process be simplified?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>This re-engineering quickly resulted in a completely new approach: a modular plastic solution that works completely without kinematics and instead relies on a plug-and-play principle.<\/p>\n<div class=\"gb-grid-wrapper gb-grid-wrapper-2ac290a9\">\n<div class=\"gb-grid-column gb-grid-column-32da6872\"><div class=\"gb-container gb-container-32da6872\">\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"980\" height=\"646\" src=\"https:\/\/ibk-engineering.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog-Anwenderbericht-Spannsysteme-bild_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4614\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ibk-engineering.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog-Anwenderbericht-Spannsysteme-bild_1.jpg 980w, https:\/\/ibk-engineering.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog-Anwenderbericht-Spannsysteme-bild_1-300x198.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ibk-engineering.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog-Anwenderbericht-Spannsysteme-bild_1-768x506.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"gb-grid-column gb-grid-column-e2a423c4\"><div class=\"gb-container gb-container-e2a423c4\">\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"980\" height=\"646\" src=\"https:\/\/ibk-engineering.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog-Anwenderbericht-Spannsysteme-bild_2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4612\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ibk-engineering.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog-Anwenderbericht-Spannsysteme-bild_2.jpg 980w, https:\/\/ibk-engineering.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog-Anwenderbericht-Spannsysteme-bild_2-300x198.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ibk-engineering.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/blog-Anwenderbericht-Spannsysteme-bild_2-768x506.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p>The components shown in the pictures are the result of this process. Form follows function &#8211; and not the other way around. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">Plug-and-play instead of complex mechanics<\/h2>\n\n<p>The newly developed solution can be connected, neatly snapped into place and released again without tools. The result: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Significantly lower construction costs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No moving parts that can wear out<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An intuitive operating concept<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High repeat accuracy in use<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Additive efficiently producible in series<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Additive manufacturing in particular was a decisive factor here: it not only enabled fast prototype runs, but also direct implementation in cost-effective series production.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">200 % cost reduction &#8211; with improved functionality<\/h2>\n\n<p>Perhaps the most impressive effect of this project was that we were able to reduce the production costs for the components by around 200%.<\/p>\n\n<p>Instead of milled or assembled aluminum components, the result is a durable, robust plastic system that requires significantly less material and processing. This saving not only has a positive effect on our customer&#8217;s budget, but also on: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the sustainability of the product<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the delivery times<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scalability with increasing quantities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">From the idea to series production<\/h2>\n\n<p>The final components can be stacked to save space, packaged efficiently and produced in large quantities. The transition from prototype to series product went smoothly and without additional investment in expensive tools. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">Conclusion: Re-engineering pays off<\/h2>\n\n<p>This project impressively demonstrates how much potential there is in consistently questioning existing solutions.
